2005 Ohio Valley Top Prospect
Geoff Oxley is a 2006 3B/P from FJ Reitz HS in Evansville, IN, with a very strong 6'3'', 215 lb. frame. He shows prospect ability both as a third baseman and as a right handed pitcher. Oxley has played both third and first in the past and how well he maintains his mobility will determine which position he plays at the next level. He has smooth actions on defense and good balance. Oxley's arm is first rate and the threw 84 mph during infield drills. The only question down the road will be his range because all his other defensive tools play. Offensively, Oxley has huge power potential, with very good bat speed and nice loft in his swing. We've seen him hit game home runs at many events with wood over the years and he can reach the fences to all fields. On the mound, Oxley has a long arm action and a 86 mph fastball. He throws a slurve type slider at 73 mph with some two plane break. Oxley's pitching mechanics are a bit raw but he has a 90 mph arm with some work and experience. Oxley is a big time prospect who has committed to Boston College. He is a good student off the field.
