Jake Lawson is a 2008 RHP/SS/2B with a 5'10'', 160 lb. frame from Abilene, TX who attends Abilene. Jake has a thin athletic build, with lots of room to add to his frame. He hits from an upright stance with a line drive swing, and has a good flat bat path that stays in the zone. He is a great contact hitter, and hits the ball hard to right field. He is a very difficult guy to strikeout and battles every at bat. He has good game speed on the bases and is smart on the base paths. On the mound he pitched very well despite dealing with a blister on his throwing hand. He still managed to top at 84 on his fastball and show some tilt. He has a consistent release on his slider and it has good spin. His top slider came in at 73 mph. He showed the ability to change speeds effectively to set up hitters, and he is a competitor on the hill. Jake is also a very good student.
