Layne Miller is a 2024 RHP/SS with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Viroqua, WI who attends Richland Center. A taller frame with a slender medium build. Longer levers throughout the build. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher who had a slower and deliberate wind-up, sidestepping into a leg lift up above the belt. He shortens up out of the leg lift and bends the knee slightly as he moves down the mound. He keeps an on-line move working down the mound and pitches from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Longer arm stroke with some whip. The fastball was up to 80 mph and had some arm-side run to it. Also showed a mid-60s curveball with 12-6 depth to it. Got some whiffs with the curveball during his outing. Also showed a changeup with good depth, looking splitter-like with the depth and spin profile. A right-handed hitter with a wider base and an inverted front foot. The hands are set high, and the back elbow is up. He has some quickness to the bat, with a deep hand load and hard stride through contact. Compact hand speed with a synced-up load. He worked back up the middle during his round pretty well and was able to work pull-side toward the end of his round of BP swings as well. Also worked out as an infielder with some quickness to his arm stroke, being accurate across the diamond. Threw from a higher slot at 79 mph across. The backhand was clean with good glovework. Showed a smooth funnel during the round and had some strength to his actions.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
