Jeff Lara -- Lara is a young sophomore right handed pitcher with a lean, projectable body. He showed us excellent pitching mechanics and solid arm strength for his age and size. Lara’s fastball was 79-84 mph and he would get excellent running life on it at times. His curveball had good 2 plane break at 65-68 mph. Lara threw a knuckleball at 66-68 mph as a change up. He looks like a young prospect who’s going to just keep getting better. Lara pitched twice in Fort Myers, once an extended appearance and the other a 1 inning mop up in the last game. We mention the mop up because it was a 3-pitch inning, always a good thing to recognize in a young pitcher. Jeff has the potential to become a big time prospect who throws in the 90s. He's also a very good hitter.
