2004 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Trae Bailey is a 2005 middle infielder from Chesapeake, Virginia, who can really hit. He combines with Justin Upton to form a great middle infield for Great Bridge High School. Trae continues to improve his sixty speed (7.55- we have seen him better); he is not a burner, but his hustle and smarts make him a very dangerous base runner. Trae has an incredible desire for the game, and he shows it at every event he attends. He has above average arm strength throwing 82 mph across the infield. He's a natural second baseman with polished tools and quick clean transfers. He will turn a ton of double plays in college. Trae is a right handed hitter with good balance and strong hands. He has a very short bat path with the ability to turn on the inside pitch, and shows very good uncoiling action. He is a game day player who has delivered time and time again at PG events. Trae is always on the Top Prospect teams and delivers against top quality pitchers. He is working on increasing his strength with the same instructor who works with ML players David Wright, BJ Upton, and Michael Cuddyer. Trae is a very good student.
