Iglesias is a 6-3 right handed hitting catcher from Miami. He is long limbed with a lean upper body and a stronger lower half. This young man has a lot of potential as a hitter. His swing looks a bit long when you first look at it but Iglesias gets the bat head to the ball and really centers up well. He had four hits in the two showcase games and another in the top prospect game. Iglesias has lift and extension in his swing and with his raw bat speed and leverage, could really develop into a top power hitter. Defensively, Iglesias receives the ball well with soft hands and has good natural arm strength. The thing that is standing in the way of his becoming an elite level catcher right now is his quickness. Iglesias has slow transfers and needs to improve his foot quickness in shifting for pitches. If he can do that, the rest of his package plays big time. Iglesias is also an excellent student who should attract the attention of some of the better academic schools.
