2004 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Andrew Schmidt: Schmidt is an agile and flashy middle infielder who plays above his raw physical tools, which are pretty solid. His best tools are his hands and balance, which enable him to make the routine play routinely and put himself in good position to make the tough plays as well, especially charging the ball. Schmidt can play shortstop at the Division I level at most schools and can definitely play second base defensively just about anywhere. Offensively, Schmidt is a switch hitter with similar inside out approaches from both sides. His swing is short and direct to the ball and he looks like he’s going to be a productive line drive hitter who can manipulate the bat head well. Schmidt plays the game hard and it shows both offensively and defensively.
