LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Kelvin Clark is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Redan HS, residing in Ellenwood, GA. Clark has an athletic and strong build on a 6'2" 185 lb. frame that is currently powerful but can carry more strength and weight. He has some raw explosiveness that comes out when he is hitting and showed that he is a hitter to follow closely. Clark was ranked #47 among PG National Top 100 position players though the next week in Joplin he was one of the top performing hitters there. Like many of the hitters in Joplin, Clark looked like he got a tune-up while facing some of the 50 90+ mph arms at PG National. Clark has a quiet hitting approach, that is until his swing explodes at contact. He has an easy swing and plus bat speed. His hands stay inside the ball very well and he showed that on the inner half of the plate he is very quick. Clark's hands are excellent and he can react to location and velocity well, showing the ability to drive the baseball hard on a consistent basis. He accelerates through contact and also creates some lift in his swing. His present day power is good and will continue to develop as he fills out. Clark is a middle of the line-up bat, with the look of a future three or four hole. In the outfield he showed above average to near plus raw arm strength. He ia an accurate thrower and overall a good outfielder, likely capable of playing any of the three outfield positions. Clark is a good athlete who ran a 6.83 laser timed 60 yard dash. Clark is a top tier D1 prospect and immediate impact player at that level. He is also going to get a lot of area scout attention this spring, coming off an impressive summer. The state of Georgia (and Redan HS in particular) has been producing a lot of prospects and Clark is yet another one.
