Wells is a big and strong 6-3 left handed hitting first baseman from Tennessee. Wells approach at the plate is all about power. He sets up in a balanced, open stance with a high elbow and his hands high behind his ears. His swing is long and smooth and powerful with pronounced lift to it and extension through the ball. Wells length might leave him vulnerable to good stuff that most hitters can’t handle anyway but he’s going to kill the cripples over the plate, especially if they are down in the zone a bit. Wells is a 7.71 runner in the 60 with playable range and hands around first base and good arm strength for the position. He is a good student.
