2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Anthony is a 2005 grad from Eastlake High School in Southern California. He has a strong physical presence with an athletic frame and room to project. Anthony lists himself as a primary pitcher but we like him much better as a position prospect down the road. The one thing that stands out is his left handed swing and strength. He has a very good smooth approach, with an easy swing that generates good bat speed with very good leverage and loft power potential. As a hitter, Anthony is a middle of the line up college bat that one day may be a good draft. The only thing that will hold him back is his lack of foot speed, which could cause defensive/positional problems if he doesn't work hard in this area. On the mound, Anthony generates arm speed from a 3/4's release point with a full arm stroke. His fastball topped out a 83 mph and his best pitch was a 68-69 mph curveball that he commanded well. He's a good pitcher, but left handed power bats are much more difficult to come by. He's a good student.
