Choate is a 6-2, 175 lb catcher whose best skills are his defensive work behind the plate. He receives the ball well and has a quick release that produces consistent pop times in the 2.00 range despite only average MLB arm strength. Choate made consistent contact in batting practice with a level swing but isn’t strong enough right now to drive the ball with wood. He projects to get much bigger and stronger at the next level.
