Matt Williams -- Williams is a strong junior catcher from Michigan who looks like he’s worked very hard on his body, especially his lower half. He’ll have to make sure that he remains flexible as he gets older. Williams showed us very good defensive tools. He’s a good athlete who runs well under way and has lots of body life. He shifts and blocks aggressively and had big league arm strength on his throws. Williams footwork is a bit raw throwing, which inflates his pop times a bit, but this can be improved. Williams strength serves him well with the bat in his hand, as he generates good bat speed with some loft in his swing. Williams is one of these hitters who swings very hard and doesn’t leave anything back. He’ll get fooled by a curveball now and then but the ball jumps off his bat in a hurry when he gets his pitch. Matt is a top student as well. Very good catcher who can hit, throw, run, and has power potential. High level prospect!
