2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Mobbs is a 6-1 right handed hitting outfielder from New York. He has a very athletic body and natural, loose actions and is very young for a junior. Mobbs ran the 60 in 7.18 but looked much faster on the bases and in the outfield. He made one great diving catch in right field and ranged far on a couple of other balls. Mobbs arm strength is solid at 78 mph and will likely improve. Mobbs future as a player will be determined by how well he can make some adjustments at the plate, where he basically needs a complete makeover of his approach. Right now Mobbs has a severe lunge at the ball with a long, reaching swing. For such an athletic and graceful player, it looks very unnatural and almost artificially coached. There’s no reason that with good instruction Mobbs can’t make some changes. Keep on eye on him, he could be a late bloomer and a solid player at the next level. Mobbs is also a very good student.
