Ben Distefano is a 2012 C/RHP, IF with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Missouri City, TX who is home schooled. Big strong physical build. Switch-hitter, better bat speed and hitting rhythm from the left side. Nice swing plane from the left side, good extension, smooth and balanced with good present bat speed, can lift the ball and reach the fences. Still start right handed, still strong with some bat speed but more of a line drive/pull approach. Fairly polished catching actions, receives well, soft hands, quick efficient exchange, strong arm, 2.00 best pop time, will have to work on lower 1/2 quickness and footwork for the next level, tends to get body out in front of his feet throwing. Also pitched, full windup with pause at the top, long arm action, fastball steady at 82-84 mph, mostly straight, good bite on a low 70's curveball, spotted both pitches down in the zone and was effective. Son of former ML'er Benny Distefano, probably a very similar tool set at the same age. Very good student.
