2005 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Wilson is a 6-1, 180 lb senior right handed pitcher from Virginia. He throws from a high 3/4's release point with very little hip turn or rotation to get his body into his pitches. Wilson maintains a good downward angle to the plate and stays on direction in his delivery. His fastball was 80-81 mph with some cutting action on occasion. It looks like he could develop a slider or cutter off his fastball with little trouble. Wilson also threw a big downer 66 mph curveball and a pretty decent 72 mph change up. He did a nice job throwing strikes and mixing his pitches. Overall, Wilson is a finesse right hander with an idea how to pitch and a couple of areas where he can improve.
