2009 Midwest Underclass Showcase
Sam Wood is a 2011 RHP/IF with a 6'2'', 186 lb. frame from Oregon, WI who attends Edgewood HS. Tall athletic build, projects strength. Slight drop and drive delivery, stays directional but drifts, compact arm action, some cross body at release. Upper 70's fastball, maintains velo well, spots FB well, gets some sink on change up, varies CB shape and works locations. Some bat speed/strength hitting, comes off hard when centered, tends to pull off on pitches. Shows arm strength in infield, accurate throws, 3B actions. Good student.
