Opie Fuller is a 2005 left handed pitcher from Roseville, CA, who threw three shutout innings in Fort Myers. Fuller showed some arm strength in infield workouts, hitting 80 mph across the diamond, but was 76-77 mph with his fastball on the mound. Fuller’s delivery is on the herky jerky side which gives deception to his pitches, but may take away some potential velocity. His curveball was 65-68 with a big, sweeping break and he threw a 68 mph change up. Fuller did a good job moving the ball around the strike zone, turned his fastball over for some sinking action and threw strikes with all his pitches. Fuller showed some bat control and bat speed at the plate and likely contributes a lot as a hitter as well. He can pitch! Opie is a very good student.
