A.J. Young is a 2012 C/1B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Gila Bend, AZ who attends Gila Bend HS. Tall, big frame, broad shoulders, strong build. Strong arm behind the plate, 79 mph on throwdown to 2B, medium arm action, throws carry, can cut down on release time, good receiver. Relaxed in box, simple approach, aggressive swing, best contact to pull side. Has strength at contact, good bat speed, some left, contact out front, pulls hands through, raw power. Went with pitch to RCF gap in game, sees ball well, couple good takes on tough pitches. Very good student. Signed with Utah.
