2004 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Phillip Brown: Brown is a 6-1 outfielder from Texas with a projectable and athletic frame. He was probably the most effective game hitter of the showcase, getting 5 hits in 7 trips to the plate and lining hard into a double play in another at bat. Brown hits from a tall stance with quick, rotational swing and looks like he likes the ball down in the strike zone. Despite being a 7.38 runner in the 60, Brown made an impact in the games with his speed in the outfield and on the bases. In fact, we would grade him close to average MLB speed. With big league level arm strength and good jumps in centerfield, he looks like a very good defensive player as well. Brown also threw a couple of innings to close a game. His arm strength didn’t translate to the mound, as he pitched in the 77-78 mph range. He can play! His best years are ahead of him.
