Cheatham is a 5-10 left handed hitting centerfielder from Florida. He has good strength for his size, especially in the upper body. Cheatham’s best tools are on defense right now. He’s a good runner who gets excellent jumps in centerfield and showed the ability to run balls down in the gaps. Cheatham’s arm strength is very solid and he makes accurate, on line throws. From what we saw, he’s a top notch DI type of centerfielder. Offensively, Cheatham pressed during BP and tried to pull and loft the ball, which isn’t his strength, although he does have nice bat speed. During games he showed a much better ability to stay back and inside the ball. With his quickness and overall package, he profiles well as a leadoff, top of the order type at the next level. Cheatham is also a very good student.
