2006 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Ryan McCafferty is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'3'', 200 lb. frame from West Chester PA, who attends East HS. He has a tall, angular build with good present strength. McCafferty has a slow and deliberate delivery and keeps his mechanics simple and balanced. That provides him great consistency in his pitches but also costs him some deception for the hitters. McCafferty's arm is quick and he comes through to a low 3/4's release point. His fastball ranged between 80 and 87 mph and was very heavy with excellent late live at times. McCafferty also threw a 76 mph slider that had explosive late break at times and can be very nasty. McCafferty has two very good pitches that should continue to improve as he adds velocity and could profile as a sinker/slider type of reliever out of the bullpen. He is a good student and has signed with Georgia Southern.
