2005 So Cal Underclass Showcase
Ryan Richardson is a 6'1" 165 pound 2007 right handed pitcher, second baseman, and outfielder from Tustin, California who has a large wiry projectable build. He shows some pure arm strength on the mound by throwing 85 mph with his fastball that has late life and tail to it. His breaking ball was 69-72 mph and his change up was 76-78 mph and both were decent pitches. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot and has the ability to throw strikes. He repeats his release point very well which gives him good rotation on his breaking ball. He tossed 4 innings and gave up only 3 hits while striking out 3 hitters. His arm transfers over to the infield as well where he threw 81 mph during the workout. Richardson has the mobility and hands to handle the infield position consistently. He has very nice footwork and soft hands. Ryan hits from an average base with his hands held high. His swing has some shortness and a little pop in it. He is a good two way prospect who should be followed closely. Ryan is a good student as well.
