Daniel Gooden is a 2014 LHP/1B with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Griffin, GA who attends Griffin HS. Strong well proportioned athletic build. Fast paced delivery with lots of energy to it, long arm action, 3/4's arm slot, some effort at release. Big fastball velocity, up to 93 mph, consistent low 90's, mostly straight. Slurve type breaking ball with hard spin and bite at times, tends to slow arm stroke on slider, slows on change up as well but has good fading life and deception. Still developing consistency in release point and arm speed but all pitches flash high ceiling potential. Also has next level hitting tools as a legit switch-hitter, good bat speed from both sides, ball jumps hard, home run power, loud contact, would be a top prospect just as a first baseman, would like to see more off offensively. Good student, verbal commitment to Georgia Tech.
