Luis Ferrer is a 2014 LHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Cape Coral, FL who attends Mariner HS. Medium frame, lean athletic build. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot with medium arm action. Short in back, good extension on release, fastball has good tailing action back to the arm side with sink, has some life on it as well. Threw a lot of strikes, can get into trouble by catching too much plate at times but showed good control and likely will be able to make the transition from throwing with control to commanding his pitches as he advances. Good diving action on straight changeup, swing and miss pitch when he is able to maintain his arm speed which he was successful with at times. Didn't use breaking ball in this outing because he didn't have much need for it with quick effective innings. Also showed some bat speed at the plate, but more promise on the mound. Very good student.
