Ryan January is a 2016 C with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Swampscott, MA who attends Salisbury HS. Outstanding young athletic build, strong and projectable, has the athletic actions not to worry about outgrowing the catching position. Good framer behind the plate, strong hands, moves well laterally blocking, compact arm and stays short in his release, good arm strength, 1.88 best drill pop time. Left handed hitter, tall stance with a busy hand load, shows good leverage and strength in his swing, hand load leaves him late at times but he can drive it hard and long to the opposite field, took good game swings and battled with tough pitchers. Well rounded prospect offensively and defensively.
