Shane Effertz -- We’ve seen Effertz throw at a couple of events and like his skills as a 3-pitch southpaw. He has a medium build with some projection to add strength. Effertz throws from mid to low ¾’s release point that has some deception to it and topped out at 84 mph with good tailing life in Fort Myers. We’ve seen him up to 86-87 mph in the past. Effertz best pitch is a low 70’s curveball that can be late and hard when he gets the release point right, although he’ll get under it once in a while. Effertz 70 mph change up is a good pitch, too. Effertz does a good job commanding each of his pitches and keeps batters off balance and swinging the bat. He will pitch at a very high level college.
