Michael Cantu is a 2014 C/1B with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Corpus Christi, TX who attends Corpus Christi Moody HS. Big extra strong build, has a physical presence, mature look. Right handed hitter, quiet hands and good shift through contact, long smooth swing with big power and lift, ball jumps when squared, showed big opposite field power versus mid-90's heat, question will be consistently catching up to velocity but can hurt the ball when he gets the barrel to it. 7.22 runner, sound catching fundamentals, stays compact for his size, some arm strength, 2.06 game pop, 1.99 drills. Also plays first base. Power potential really stands out. Very good student, verbal commitment to Texas.
