2013 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Eric Crain is a 2014 OF/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Richmond, VA who attends Deep Run. Extra large, athletic frame with a lean build and long limbs. Ran a 7.15 60 yard dash. Primary outfielder where he showed well, along with upside on the mound. Moves feet well in the outfield and gains momentum on throws. Strong arm with good carry on throws and sound, defensive actions. Left handed batter with an upright stance and shows some balance at the plate. Very good, fast bat with excellent ability to barrel up the ball consistently. Hard, line drive contact regularly. Also uses arm strength on mound as a right handed pitcher. Throws from a three quarters arm slot with a quick, short arm action. Fastball up to 85 mph, sitting 83-85, with a sound feel for off speed. Curveball shows 12/6 break with depth at 69 mph. Drops arm slot on change up, but has a feel and maintains it low in the zone. Velocity maintains from stretch. Very good two way prospect to be watched. Named to Top Prospect List. Good student.
