Parson’s had the best pop times at Chapel Hill, consistently registering between 1.88 and 1.94 in workouts and throwing a 1.90 in game situations. The 5-11 Parsons is quiet and quick behind the plate, with little wasted motion either in throwing or moving to pitches. At the plate, Parsons has a short, compact swing and consistently made line drive contact against good game pitching. He’ll need to get stronger to handle better pitching with wood but the fundamentals are there. He's a good receiver with a strong accurate arm and a live bat. Stephen is also a top student.
