Taylor Hammack is a 2006 left handed pitcher/first baseman from Angleton, TX with a tall muscular body at 6-3, 210 lbs. He has a big coil and hip turn in his delivery but stays tall and has a high 3/4's release with an extended arm stroke that gives him good downward plane to the plate and very good extension out front. Hammack has some effort in his delivery but is a well above average athlete and the effort doesn't seem to affect his command or consistency to any degree right now. Hammack's fastball topped out at 92 mph in Atlanta with explosive life up in the zone at times. He's the type of fastball pitcher who can throw the ball past hitters with pitches up. Hammack's curveball ball was 71-73 mph with good depth and a 2-plane break. He looks like a pitcher who could throw a slider in the future, too, with some instruction. Hammack's 78 mph change up was a solid pitch for him, with good sinking life. Hammack has also consistently shown us prospect level hitting tools as a power hitting first baseman in the past. He is very strong and has very good pull loft in his swing. Hammack is an outstanding student off the field and an outstanding prospect on the field.
