Thomas Morrison is a 2005, 6'1" left handed pitcher from Birmingham, AL, with everything but fastball velocity. He gets very good life on a 75-77 mph fastball and showed the ability to spot the pitch to different parts of the strike zone. Morrison’s best pitch was a 66 mph curveball that had sharp biting action. Like his fastball, Morrison had good feel for the location of his curveball and left handed hitters had very little chance against him during his three innings of work. Morrison’s change up was also a quality pitch at 66 mph. In addition to his pitching ability, Morrison showed us a prospect level bat from the left side. He has a compact, line drive type of swing with good bat speed and made solid contact to all fields both in batting practice and in games. If he continues to develop his offensive game as a first baseman, he could be valuable as a two way player / left handed pitcher in college.
