2005 National Showcase
Tony Sedlmeyer is a 2006 RHP from Snider HS in Ft. Wayne, IN, with a 6'1", 195 lb. frame and very good present strength. He has very quiet pitching mechanics, with a high and tight knee raise and good balance throughout. Sedlmeyer was consistently 90-91 mph with his fastball in Atlanta with very good sinking life down in the zone. He kept his fastball down where it was very difficult to hit hard. Sedlmeyer's curveball flashed very good spin at 74 mph but he tended to drop his arm angle to low 3/4's at time on this pitch which made the spin plane inconsistent. It can be a very good pitch with a couple of adjustments. Sedlmeyer's present velocity, pitchability and the life on his fastball make him a highest level right handed pitching prospect. Sedlmeyer has also shown us prospect level tools as a shortstop in the past. He has some juice in his bat and is a solid defensive player, although he chose only to pitch at the National Showcase. He is also a good student off the field.
