Derek West is a 2015 RHP with a 6-5 230 lb. frame from Orange City, FL who attends Trinity Christian Academy. Big strong athletic build. Full hands over head delivery, full arm circle to and extended 3/4's release point, lots going on to repeat consistently with young athleticism. Fastball topped out at 93 mph, settled down quickly into the upper 80's, mostly straight. Change up was a quality pitch with big sinking and fading life, limited change up to left handers but needs to throw to right handers as well, out pitch quality. Big sweeping slurve to right handed hitters, gets good spin but lacked two-plane shape. Young strong armed pitcher who shows flashes of three very good pitches, still developing all the peripheral skills.
