Sam Mahoney is a 2006 catcher/first baseman from Belmont, Massachusetts, with a big and strong 6'5"/215 pound frame. Behind the plate, he has a strong arm at 79 mph with a solid 1.96 pop time. Mahoney showed an accurate arm and is a good received behind the dish. As a left handed hitter, he has an upright stance and hits with a small stride. Sam has strength in his swing and very good raw power. He generates very good bat speed with left and hit a deep home run to leftfield in the game. Mahoney has a projectable body and is a definite player to follow. Sam is an excellent student.
