Anthony Mesa is a 2007 catcher/first baseman from Miami, FL with a projectable athletic body at 6-2, 185 lbs. Behind the plate, he has very good arm strength at 78 mph. He has a smooth transfer with a quick release and he popped a fast 1.93. He moves well from side to side, and he receives the ball with soft hands. Mesa is a switch hitter with a bit more power and bat control from the right side. He has good strength and he generates a lot of bat speed with a level swing plane. Anthony lets the ball get deep into the zone and he makes solid contact to all fields. He is a solid catcher that will hit for average and power at the next level. Anthony is a good student.
