Phillip Willis is a 2016 SS/2B with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from Gainesville, FL who attends F. W. Buchholz HS. Lean, athletic build with broad shoulders and a projectable frame with room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, gathers well with solid footwork to and through the ball. Short and compact arm action, fields the ball out front well while getting on top of ball while showing strength and carry across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, starts with a slight knee bend and a high hand set and back elbow. Line drive swing plane with a compact bat path, shows lift to centerfield. Loads well and stays balanced through swing, shows ability to drive ball to the opposite field with a feel for the barrel. Outstanding student.
