Sam Shaw is a 2016 OF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Brimfield, MA who attends St John's HS. Medium, athletic build with broad shoulders and sound present strength throughout frame, well proportioned. Ran a 7.23 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, shows short and quick footwork to the ball, gets behind it well and shows range, short arm action with over the top release, uses a crow hop to gain momentum and shows strength and accuracy on throws. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and a crouched stance. Uses a leg lift trigger for timing. Good rhythm to mechanics, starts with a barrel wrap at start but has bat speed through the zone to get barrel to ball. Looks to lift at contact, line drive swing plane with nice contact coming off the barrel when squared to the middle of the field. Good student.
