John Arel is a 2014 RHP/1B with a 6-6 240 lb. frame from Burlington, CT who attends Northwest Catholic. He has an XL frame, with a strong build something you can’t teach. On the hill, Arel showed a smooth balanced delivery, long arm circle in back, high 3/4 arm slot, extended release, long loose arm action, throws downhill with minimal effort. He has a sharp breaking 11/5 CB, with late bite, and has cut action on his fastball. At the plate he displayed plus swing mechanics, smooth, plus extension, good balance, will hit for power when he lets it loose. During the 1B workout he showed solid hands, stayed online, good arm strength, and good accurate throws.
