2013 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Ben Erickson is a 2014 RHP with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Dowling Catholic HS. Solid athletic build, good present strength. Back turn delivery, keeps hands tight, 3/4's arm slot, some cross body on release. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 82 mph early, pretty straight with occasional cutting action. Curveball best pitch, consistent hard spin and sharp biting action, uses curveball as strikeout pitch with many swing/miss. Developing change up, tends to change arm action at present. Curveball should be very effective against high school hitters. Good student.
