Cooper Merrill is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Mason City, IA who attends Clear Lake. Smaller frame with a projectable body. Right handed hitter with a narrow stance and leg lift trigger. Attacks baseball well is a good shift into contact. Shows present bat speed with a compact path to contact. Shows willingness to use all fields, primarily looks to throw hands and use pull side. Some present pull side pop when extended at contact. Very good speed out of the box, ran a 6.59 sixty. Worked out defensively from the infield. Has a low center of gravity with clean footwork while surrounding the baseball. Raw arm strength from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean release. Throws are accurate with on line carry.Topped at 84 mph across the infield. Smooth, athletic actions throughout with range to both sides. Body type and tools project to become better.
