Kevin Armijo is a 2007 3B/MIF with a 6'0'', 185 lb. frame from Corona CA, who attends Mater Dei HS. Selected as a Top 10 Prospect at this event. At the last event we saw him at (California Showcase, Aug. 2006), Armijo caught our attention and he was even better just over a month later. His tools and abilities profile extremely well for a 3rd baseman at the D1 level and then beyond after college. He has a strong, well-proportioned and broad build that will carry more size and strength. Armijo's hands are particularly strong. His body control is very good. At the plate Armijo is not tough to figure out; he can hit and does so like a middle of the order impact bat. He has a quiet approach, an easy swing and excellent timing. He generates easy power with little effort (very good hip drive) and drives through contact with those strong hands. He consistently makes plus barrel contact and the ball jumps off his bat. His present day power is good, but not as good as it will be. There are lots of home runs in his future. Armijo bangs the ball to all fields with authority and just makes it look easy. Defensively he showedfeel, with good hands and feet. Armijo made all his plays, and did play well at shortstop, moving well to the backhand. He is a solid, potentially above average defensive player, likely moving to 3rd base in college. Armijo is a solid student and a diamond in rough type for the late signing period.
