Michael Nielsen is a 2016 C/RHP/1B with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Bloomingdale, IL who attends Lake Park HS. Tall and angular athletic build, good present strength with the room for plenty more. Left handed hitter, sound hitting approach, hits tall and stays on top of the ball, smooth loose swing, aggressive hitter who creates bat speed, looks to pull the ball, will get overanxious and long at times out of aggressive, projects very well offensively with additional strength and repetitions. Good athleticism behind the plate, shows quickness, rotational thrower with good arm strength, release will create big tailing action at times, 1.92 best pop time, soft hand receiving the ball. Also pitched, high energy delivery, gets back turned well, repeats mechanics. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, ball seems to get on hitters quickly, change up is his best pitch and he has confidence in it, good deception, short slider. Throws strikes and competes. Nice all around athlete who should continue to improve.
