Golston Gillespie is a 2017 C/OF/1B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Hull, GA who attends Madison County HS. Extra large build with big present strength. Has strong hands behind the plate and a compact release, good arm strength, lower half will need quickening to stay at the catcher's position and may have outgrown it already. Runs very well for his size, 6.99 in the sixty, and should be able to handle lots of other positions on the field. Switch-hitter, has more bat speed and strength from the left side, gets loose extension out front, inside hand path from both sides with a strong middle of the field approach, can drive the gaps, fluid low effort swings. Good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi.
