2005 South Underclass Showcase
Richard is a 5-11, 180 lb junior third baseman from Texas with good present strength. He also caught at the showcase and showed plenty of enough ability at this difficult position that he should continue to play this position as much as possible in our opinion. His arm strength especially shined behind the plate, where he threw 77 mph with a best pop time of 2.02. His overall actions and body type seemed well suited for behind the plate as well. Richard's bat looks like it's going to play as well. He has a nice load and stride to the ball and generates nice bat speed. He's a little stiff with his hands but the ball comes off his bat hard and he makes consistent contact with some gap to gap power. He should keep improving. Good follow, especially as a catching prospect. Richard is also a very good student. Named to the Top Prospect Game.
