Justin Hooper is a 2015 LHP/OF with a 6-7 230 lb. frame from San Ramon, CA who attends De La Salle. XL frame, tall athletic high waisted build with long limbs. Pitches from a three quarters arm slot with a compact arm action. Uses his length well in his delivery, getting good extension out front after a long stride. Maintains balance to delivery well and has good downhill plane, showed ability to repeat delivery with good athleticism to control long levers. Late life to the arm side on fastball, explodes out of his hand, already shows ability to command it well in spurts, with additional consistency has a chance to be an elite pitcher. Sharp late downer break on mid-upper 70s curveball with 1-7 break, showed feel for it within the zone and to induce chases out of the zone as well. Developing changeup in low-mid 80s, less polished than two primary pitches but good start to development at this stage of development. Elite upside, showed top of the class talent in this outing. Good student. Named to the Sunshine West Top Prospect Team.
