Austin Suhr is a 2015 RHP/3B with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Bettendorf, IA who attends Pleasant Valley HS. Large athletic build, good present strength. Fast paced delivery, fast arm from a high 3/4's to over the top arm slot, uses lower 1/2 well to help generate velocity, good extension out front. Fastball up to 87 mph, mostly straight but consistently down in the zone. Nice set of secondary pitches. Maintains arm speed well on change up with some fading action. Slider shows good bite at times and he commands it well. Curveball gets slurvy at times but flashes 11/5 depth. Fine tuning command, especially from the stretch, a key in his development. Left handed hitter, sound hitting mechanics, has some strength in his swing from a crouched stance, hard line drive contact, uses his hands well to drive the ball. Good student.
