Jake Gilbert is a 2017 1B/RHP with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny Centennial. Gilbert has a large athletic frame with room to fill out and add strength. Hits from a square simple set up, easy hand load, shifts well into swing with a rotational lower half. Shows bat speed with a line drive swing plane and lift. Has strength in swing and ball jumps when centered. Mid field approach with good contact. Defensively, big target at first, light on feet around base, sure actions coming off base, clean transfer and release. Also pitches. Side arm delivery, fastball has good sink and run, commands inner half well and isn't afraid to throw inside. Mixed in short 11/5 curveball. Excellent Student
