Braden Stovie is a 2019 SS/3B, RHP with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Xavier. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 7.14 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with deliberate footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and works through exchange with developing fluidity. Flashed solid range while working to glove side hole. Released from a three-quarters slot producing accurate carry to the bag, topped at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and high back elbow set. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed developing feel for the barrel while employing a mid field approach. Flashed the hand skills the control the barrel and work the other way when maintaining balance at contact. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to small leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball produced occasional downhill tilt through the zone in the low 70's, topped at 72 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/4 shape with loose spin and good depth in the mid 60's. Showed good command for both pitches and consistently worked to each edge of the plate in positive and negative counts. Good student as well.
