2005 South Underclass Showcase
Williams is a 5-9, 150 lb sophomore switch-hitting second baseman from Texas with good overall athletic ability. He ran the 60 in 7.34 but showed good quickness and a nice, balanced running stride that promises to lead to speed gainsas he gets older. Williams has clean fielding actions with soft hands and a quick release. His arm strength hasn't started to develop yet but his arm stroke is clean. Williams looks like a natural switch hitter with similar approaches from both sides of the plate. He's a little shorter and quicker from the left side where he's likely had more repetitions. He has a good load from both sides with a smooth bat path and nice finish out front. It's just a matter of gaining strength and Williams projects very well as a hitter. Good young player to watch develop and just barely 15 years old. Named to the Top Prospect Game.
