Christopher Mercedes is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-6 200 lb. frame from Winter Garden, FL who attends West Orange HS. Very lean and athletic build, extremely projectable physically. Primary outfielder but clearly a higher ceiling on the mound based on this viewing. Long and loose arm action from a high 3/4's arm slot, big downhill angle, has good balance, slow tempo in his delivery can be sped up a bit. Mid-80's fastball, topped out at 87 mph early, lots more in there with physical maturity and repetitions. Curveball flashed tight spin and some depth, will continue to improve as he learns how to release it out front. 7.64 runner, shows his loose arm from the outfield. Right handed hitter, long and loose rotational swing, could get his hands extended better, tends to take an inside swing path, has leverage when he hits it out front. Will be interesting to watch develop on the mound. Good student.
